We’ve stayed at a few places during our two winter visits to Colorado. Here are our experiences with them:
Hyatt Place Denver Airport – Aurora, CO
We call this hotel Hyatt’s answer to Hilton’s Hampton Inn. We’ve stayed at another Hyatt Place in Northern California and the decor and layout was exactly the same – modern but understated. This location was a few miles from the Denver Airport and was a good place to stay if you were coming in late from a flight or leaving on an early morning flight. These rooms were a bit more spacious than average and for a great price of $80/night through hotels.com.
The room was divided into two separate areas with a sitting and sleeping area. There was an L-shaped couch with an ottoman, small refrigerator, 42″ LCD TV, free Wi-fi. Complimentary breakfast (variety of juices, pastries, danish, bread, bagels, fruit, sausage) was available daily in their common area next to the lobby. It was a smoke free facility with plenty of outside parking available.
This hotel was right off the I-70 highway and Peña Blvd. (the main road to the airport). There were other hotel chains nearby and various fast food places (Wendys, Sonic, Long John Silver) and family-friendly restaurants. It was clean, comfortable and family-friendly. We would stay at this particular hotel again and recommend it.

Inn & Suites at Riverwalk – Edwards, CO
We stayed at Inn & Suites at Riverwalk for one night in Edwards, CO which is a few miles west of Vail & Beaver Creek off the I-70 . The only reason we were in the area was to see Vail & Beaver Creek resorts but had no plans to ski there as we were booked at Breckenridge the following day. Parking was plentiful outside. It was located in Edwards Riverwalk full of restaurants, boutiques, unique stores and a movie theater and right off the freeway exit .
This hotel was clean and comfortable though the furniture was somewhat dated but was in a great location. There was one elevator. They served complimentary breakfast in the lobby restaurant. Fresh Fruits were available, different juices, coffee, waffles, bagels, toast (toaster available) cereals, muffins. It was good for a one night stay that met our needs.

The Great Divide Lodge – Breckenridge, CO
We booked a standard type hotel room with 2 queen beds in Breckenridge. They charged a $15 resort fee. This was near the slopes and 50 yards to the ski lifts Peak 9). The room was spacious and came with a mini-refrigerator with sink in a little area. It was very close to Main street Breckenridge where most of the restaurants and stores were located. A courtesy van was available for a ride into the main street. They had a welcoming lobby and friendly staff.

Summit Cove – Keystone, CO
We booked a 3 bedroom, 3 bath privately owned condo through their website located close to the Keystone Resort village during our last trip in Jan. 2010. We decided on getting a condo because we were traveling with a group of people and this was the most convenient choice and came out cheaper per person.
This location was chosen because of its proximity to Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland and Copper Mountain ski resorts. It was also close to the towns of Dillon and Silverthorne where there are a variety of restaurants and shopping centers. The registration was located on Gateway center shopping center right off Highway 6. The ground floors had a liquor store, pub/restaurant, massage center and ski rental while the condos were on the upper floors.
We were so glad to have rented this unit because there was enough space for our party of seven (5 adults and 2 kids). It was clean, comfortable and spacious. The only entrance was through a secured indoor garage that could be accessed via assigned key card. Parking spaces were open and not assigned.
There were two elevators, one for the east wing and one for the west. It was located right after getting off the elevator and was a warm welcome with heavy equipment, luggages, groceries and tired kids. It was nicely decorated with a snow and mountain theme. The owners did a great job of ensuring that guests were accomodated throughout their stay. The built-in washer and dryer was an added bonus after a full day of falling and playing in the snow.
There was a balcony off the master bedroom and one off the living/dining rooom and both had a great view of the Keystone mountains. There was a big electric fireplace in the living room with two foldout couches and a jacuzzi in the master bath which we didn’t use. The kitchen was fully equipped and functional. The wooden table and benches big enough to seat about 8 people in the dining room. Although we found out that this unit was for sale at the time of our rental for a cool half a million dollars. Too bad we didn’t hit the lotto that weekend or else this would have made a nice Colorado getaway.
